Root Canal Therapy

ROOT CANAL THERAPY

DON’T FORCE YOURSELF TO LIVE WITH TOOTH PAIN

Root canal therapy has a very unfair reputation; despite what many patients think, it’s no more uncomfortable than other routine procedures. On the other hand, the toothaches and infections that the procedure is meant to treat can be highly unpleasant, to say the least. If you want to save your natural smile and enjoy life without constant pain in your mouth, get in touch with Dr. Le at Whitewood Dental to ask about root canal therapy in North Dallas, TX.

Patients who need a root canal because of an infected tooth will get symptoms such as:

A severe ache within your tooth that gets worse by the minute Aches and sensitivity when pressure is put on the tooth (as you chew foods) Moderate sensitivity and discomfort to hot and cold temperatures A raised lump on the gums (usually looks like a blemish) Tender or swelling jaws Bitter tasting saliva Do you have any of these symptoms? Call us at Whitewood Dental. We'll schedule your visit and examine your teeth to determine if a root canal is necessary.

Root Canal Procedure

First, we'll make sure your mouth is completely prepared for the treatment. That means ensuring that the area is numb and that the tooth is protected from saliva with a dam. We use a great quality anesthetic ointment to maximize your comfort. Do you have dental anxiety, and you'd like to relieve anxiousness? Ask our dentists for extra numbing ointment to keep you calm during the root canal procedure. Once we're ready, we'll expose the pulp beneath the tooth's enamel; the soft tissue will be taken out, and all bacteria inside will be removed during a thorough cleaning. The goal is to get rid of the current infection while also preventing a new one from occurring. A crown will need to be placed at some point after the treatment to strengthen and protect the weakened tooth.
